Creative Lucet Cordmaking

Try out the art of lucet braiding, using a simple wooden hand tool to create colorful and durable cords with craft artist Riley Kleve. From the Viking era up till industrialization, lucet cords were ubiquitous for holding, tying, and embellishing all types of clothing and objects. Square, firm, and flexible, lucet braids are perfect for tying up gifts during the holiday season, but of course can be used for a whole manner of other uses as well. Please note: braiding requires motor skills in two hands. Suitable for ages 16+.

A $10 materials fee is payable to the instructor and covers all materials and tools use in class. Students will use provided wooden looms in class, but options for sourcing looms independently will also be discussed.
