Colorful Fused Glass Jewelry

This class runs two Thursdays, May 2 and 9, from 6-8 pm each session.

Make your own vibrant jewelry in this two-session class while learning about the art of glass fusing with glass artist Susan Tracy! Students will create several glass pendants and a pair of earrings using colorful glass powder, frit, colorful glass stringers and noodles, sparkly mica flakes, and pure silver. Each project allows the opportunity to learn different techniques, with all tools and materials provided and no previous glass experience necessary. Suitable for ages 18+.

On the first evening, you’ll work with sheet and accessory glass to create a small design plate, which will be fused by the instructor before the next session. During the second session, you’ll cut two pendants from your fused piece and layer for a second firing. Students will also create additional pendants and a pair of earrings in this session. Each pendant will be finished with silver-plated findings and a chain, and earrings will be attached to sterling silver posts. Your final projects will be fused and finished by the instructor after the second class and returned to ASI for pick up by the end of May.

A $40 materials fee covers all materials, tools use, and kiln firings for five or six unique pendants and a pair of earrings with silver- and silver-plated findings. Please note, students are required to wear KN95 masks when working with glass frit and mica in class.
