Carved Julbock Candle Holders

Carve and paint two Swedish-style julbock (Christmas goat) candle holders, perfect for holiday display or gifting! This traditional Swedish holiday icon may have originated with Norse Mythology, and often shows up around the holidays as a straw or wood decoration. After a brief refresher on basic carving skills and tool safety from instructor Maeve Gathje, this class will jump right into carving two basswood blanks for the first part of class. Then in the second half of class, students will discuss painting techniques and consider milk paint and acrylic paint options. This class is designed for newer to intermediate carvers who wish to be guided through a project and requires good hand strength and flexibility. Suitable for ages 16+.

A $30 materials fee covers the supplies for two candle holders and two candles.
