Carve a Heart

Try your hand at carving by making a sweet wooden heart decoration with carving instructor Maeve. This beginner-level course will introduce students to the tradition of Scandinavian-style flat-plane carving, including basic knife grips and carving techniques. Related topics, such as acquiring and preparing tools and materials, will be covered throughout the class. The finished hearts will be perfect for display, gifting, or even making a statement necklace.

Prerequisites:

• Physical ability: Woodcarving requires good hand strength and dexterity, for example, opening a jam jar.
• Skill level: Open to all skill levels.
• Ages: Suitable for ages 16+ or 11-15 accompanied by a registered adult.

Tools and Materials:

A $10 materials fee is payable to the instructor in class.
