The stunning white paper bark from the birch tree is an iconic northern material. This holiday season, create two beautiful, Nordic-style star ornaments for display or gifting. Students will have the chance to work with this unique natural material, harvested by instructor Beth Homa Kraus, while learning about the ecology, harvest, and processing of this material. Careful folding and lots of patience will be rewarded with two beautiful birch bark star ornaments.

Prerequisites:

Physical ability: Please note that this class requires some hand strength and good finger dexterity.

Skill level: Open to all skill levels.

Ages: Suitable for ages 14+.

Tools & Materials:

A $35 materials fee is payable to the instructor in class and covers all materials and tools. The birch bark is usually treated with walnut oil, so if you have a nut allergy, please let us know during registration so the instructor can prepare a nut free kit for you.
