Beyond ABBA: Swedish Music Appreciation

In this class taught by Liz Stopka, students will go beyond ABBA’s “Dancing Queen” and explore a different popular Swedish musical artist each week. The class will feature a range of contemporary musical artists from pop to hip-hop to folk. Students will learn about the artist’s career, listen to their work, translate some songs, and maybe even sing a little! This class is open to anyone with an interest in Swedish music. Some knowledge of Swedish is helpful but not required. Content will be in Swedish, but discussions will take place in English. This summer’s class will feature different artists than the previous summer.
