Berry Jam Basics

Learn to capture summer’s bounty into a beautiful berry jam with preserving expert Heidi Skoog, owner of Minnesota-based Serious Jams. Heidi will demonstrate the process for making a jam balanced in flavor and properly set with whatever berries are fresh from the market during class. Tips for specific berries, sourcing, and storage options (whether canning or keeping in the fridge) will also be discussed. Please note that hot water bath canning will be discussed but not demonstrated in this class. Students will head home with a sample of the fresh jam and a good basic recipe for making jam at home to preserve summer flavors well into the winter.
